When to Apply for the Best Chance of Placement
Recruitment for US summer camps is seasonal. Applying early significantly increases your chances of securing a great role AND finding cheaper flights!
The Ideal Timeline
- September – December: Early Bird Phase
- Actions: Apply, interview, and complete your profile.
- Why Apply Now? This is your highest chance of placement. Camps have the maximum number of available roles.
- January – February: Placement Season
- Actions: Camps actively recruit. Attend virtual job fairs and get hired.
- Why Apply Now? Still an excellent chance of placement. The visa process begins right after you are placed.
- March – April: The Visa Rush
- Actions: Final placements occur. The focus shifts entirely to mandatory paperwork and Embassy appointments.
- Why Apply Now? A good chance, but fewer roles are available. You must be ready to move quickly.
- May: Final Cut-off
- Actions: Only last-minute roles (if any) are available.
- Why Apply Now? A very limited chance of placement. May require faster travel planning.
Key Dates to Remember
- June 1st: You must be 18 years old by this date.
- Late May – Mid-June: The typical window for your flight departure to the US for staff orientation.
- Mid-August: The typical end date of your 9-11 week camp contract.
- September: The deadline for all participants to exit the US after using their 30 days of travel.
