This is the final administrative step before your camp adventure begins.
- Required Documents: Have your passport, J-1 Visa, DS-2019 form, and your camp address ready.
- Immigration Officer: When asked, state clearly that you are participating in the Summer Work and Travel program and will be working as a Camp Counselor/Specialist/Support Staff at your specific camp (name the camp).
- SEVIS Check-in: Your camp will handle the mandatory SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) check-in within the first week.
Camp Pickup and Transfer
Don’t worry about finding your way; your camp has it covered.
- Designated Meeting Point: Your camp will provide detailed instructions for the meeting point at your arrival airport (usually baggage claim or a specific exit).
- Look for the Sign: A camp staff member will be waiting to meet you, typically holding a sign with the camp’s name.
- Transportation: The camp will provide and pay for your transfer directly from the airport to the camp facility.
