
To be eligible for a summer job through SAFRICAMPS, you must meet the general criteria below, in addition to specific requirements for your chosen role.
General Requirements (All Applicants)
- Nationality: You must be a citizen of South Africa.
- English Fluency: Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Clear Record: Must pass a criminal background check.
- Visa Ready: Eligible to obtain a J-1 Summer Work and Travel Visa.
- Commitment: Available to work for 9-11 consecutive weeks (late May/early June to late August).
Role-Specific Requirements
The age and student status requirements differ based on the type of camp job.
1. Camp Counselor & Specialist (Direct Camper Contact)

| Age | Must be 18 years old by June 1st of the application year. |
| Student Status | Not required. You do not need to be a student to apply for a Counselor or Specialist role. |
| Experience | Proven experience working with children, or specialized certification (for Specialists). |
2. Support Staff (Operations & Logistics)

| Age | Must be 18 years old by June 1st of the application year. |
| Student Status | Required. You must be a full-time student or have completed full-time studies within the last 12 months. |
| Skills | Experience in kitchen work, housekeeping, maintenance, or other operational fields is a plus. |
