We Make Travel Simple.
Getting to your American camp can seem daunting, but SAFRICAMPS provides comprehensive guidance to make your travel seamless and stress-free.
Flight Logistics
- Self-Booking: While we provide guidance on timing, you are responsible for booking and paying for your round-trip airfare.
- Arrival Dates: Your camp will provide a specific arrival date (and often a specific airport) that you must adhere to for training.
- Flexibility: We strongly advise booking a flexible or refundable ticket, just in case your visa interview or placement schedule requires minor adjustments.
The Post-Camp Travel Window
- Explore America: Your J-1 Visa allows you up to 30 days after your camp contract ends to travel within the US.
- Return Date: Ensure your return ticket is booked no later than 30 days after your official camp end date.
- Planning: We recommend having a rough travel plan before you arrive, though you’ll finalize it with your new friends at camp!
Airport Arrival & Camp Pickup
- Designated Airport: Once placed, you will fly to an airport near your camp’s location.
- Camp Pickup: Almost all US summer camps arrange and pay for your transportation from the designated airport directly to the camp grounds. Look for a camp representative holding a sign!
